Man With Alzheimer's Proposes Wife For The Second Time After Forgetting He Was Married To Her
A man with Alzheimer's who was married for 12 years proposed to his wife yet again after he forgot he was married to her.
One of the worst things for any person is to see their loved one's health deteriorate. But what is even worse is that if that loved one forgets who you are.
That's what happens with a person who has Alzheimer's. The disease sadly takes away a person's memories with age and with time it, unfortunately, gets worse.
That's what happened with 56-year-old Peter Marshall from Connecticut who was diagnosed with Alzheimer¡¯s a few years ago.
Peter forgot that he was already married and in December while watching a wedding on TV asked his wife Lisa if she wanted to marry him.
Lisa documents Peter's journey on a Facebook page called Oh Hello Alzheimer's and described the entire incident.
She narrated that when Peter proposed to her he didn't know Lisa is his wife. He just knew that she is his favourite person. So, Lisa happily said yes.
Thankfully, Lisa¡¯s daughter just so happens to be a wedding and event planner and helped out with the event by spreading the word and making arrangements with numerous vendors who offered their services for free.
The married couple enjoyed a second wedding. However due to Peter's illness rapidly increasing he forgot about the ceremony.
However, Lisa calls herself the 'luckiest girl in the world'. She wrote, "I couldn¡¯t have dreamt for a better day. It was so magical. I can¡¯t remember seeing him so happy for so long. He was so happy."
Lisa continues to create awareness about Alzheimer's on her Facebook page and cherishes the memories she has with her husband.
