One would believe that a few bouts of rain might have brought some relief to the firefighters in Australia who have been working round the clock to douse the raging bushfires. But the extent of the fires is such that there is hardly any breathing space for them.
In order to help the firefighters, a Muslim group traveled to a ravaged town to help those affected by the fires.
These members of the Newport Islamic Society cooked meals for firefighters who have been working tirelessly at the Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Brigade, over the weekend. These firefighters have been trying to control the fires raging in East Gippsland for the past week.
¡°It was very emotional to see how tired and drained they were. They were just exhausted,¡± Daily Mail Australia quoted volunteer, Lookman El Kurdi, as saying.
¡°It felt really good to at least give them a feed and pray for them and show we are thinking about them,¡± he further said.
Not only did the group cook meals, they also collected five truckloads of much-needed items to be delivered across the region.
¡°We were seeing all these bushfires that were happening around Australia and felt we needed to do something. We put the call out and within 48 hours we had collected so many items,¡± El Kurdi said. Many homes have been destroyed because of bushfires across East Gippsland.
It is heartwarming to see that people from various communities are contributing towards relieving the firefighters who are battling the incessant fires.
