Mother Of Five Claims She Only Shops Once Or Twice A Year For Essentials
A busy mum of five has shared her huge $5,635 (Rs4,28,265) food shop that will supposedly last her family for an entire six months.
A big family would obviously mean that the expenses are much more than needed. But a mother has found a way to save even though she has five kids to look after.
Video creator and mother of five Tabitha Kelley has revealed how she does a food shop just once or twice a year and stocks up all essential food that her family requires. This essentially means that she is saving herself from all those weekly supermarket trips.
The YouTuber said, "We are a family of seven and we have five kids and this is just what works for us, not everybody would like to make this huge haul in one trip but that's just how we like to do it. We're hoping about four to six months that this will last us."
She added, "It requires a lot of effort on my part, with organising and meal planning."
Tabitha then shows her kitchen which is filled with all the essentials ¨C food, toiletries, cleaning supplies... you name it, they've got it. There are six bumper jars of olive oil, a year's worth of rice, 20 pats of butter, 10 dozen eggs, 22 packets of pasta and 95 bags of crisps.
She continued, "This haul is like an all-day event. We headed out right away when they opened at 10 am right now it's 4 pm and we're still going. By the time I'm done putting everything away, it will probably be nighttime."
But where does this mom store all these things? She revealed that they have a storage space in their basement to house most of the shop. She even said that sometimes the stuff is so much that they have to stack it up in the kitchen and even in the hallway.
Tabitha said, "We are so grateful that we are able to buy this food for our entire family and feed them for months on end. It's really worth it even though it takes all day. This grocery haul will last my family-of-seven so long, we rarely go out to eat so this is just what we needed."
Well, this mother is a smart shopper and totally knows how to make the most of those sales. However, we have one question. What happens if some of the food articles expire or get over? Guess that's where all the money-saving comes up.
