"I had asked my friend for his car and informed him that I want to convert it into an ambulance. This is a time when COVID-19 can strike anyone and I wanted to provide fast service as I don't want anyone to suffer. An ambulance was a perfect idea. My intention is to provide help in medical emergencies at this crucial juncture," the report quoted Tejesh as saying.
Tejesh began the service on June 4 and since then he has managed to transport 18 patients to various hospitals. The cop also paid from his own pocket to get the vehicle modified according to the need of the hour.
"There was a need to modify the vehicle. I made two partitions and two separate areas-one for COVID patients and the other for other patients like relatives," Tejesh added.
"After this, there was no looking back and I ferried many patients. Anyone can call the ambulance and it will be there on time. Most of the calls for the ambulance are from underprivileged people," said the cop.
Tejesh wears the PPE kit and drives the vehicle himself around the city to help out the patients.
