Rajasthan: Entire Village Comes Together To Watch Dalit Family Bring Bride Home In A Helicopter
In an unusual incident reported from Rajasthan¡¯s Barmer, a bride made headlines after she arrived at her in-laws' place in a helicopter.
People find different and unique ways to arrive at their weddings nowadays. But a family in Rajasthan chose a very non-conservative way and hired a private helicopter to bring home the bride for the first time. The incident took place in the Barmer district.
Being a Dalit family, it wasn't easy for them to hire a chopper. According to Times Of India, the first chopper refused to cater to them at the last moment. However, the groom's family paid an additional Rs 1 lakh to hire another helicopter. It was the bride's mother-in-law's wish to bring home their daughter-in-law in a chopper.
The groom, Tarun Meghwal got married to Dhiya at Bidhanion ki Dhani near the border in Barmer district on December 14. The newly married couple reached Jasedhar Dham in Barmer city in a helicopter the following day, much to the amusement of the local residents who thronged to see the unusual sight.
As the chopper arrived to land in the village, the crowd went out of control forcing the pilot to shelve the landing plan. However, police intervened later and controlled the mob to facilitate helicopter landing.
According to a Free Press Journal report, Dalit grooms in the vicinity are threatened and beaten for riding a horse even on special days. That is why the family thought of a different alternative.
A retired teacher said though the community is very poor in the village the way the bride was brought to the village in a helicopter is admirable.
Well, this is something the village people will remember for a while.
