Sometimes we underappreciate the efforts of delivery executives who toil all day long to deliver us food. However, this tale about a delivery person has nothing to do with food. This is much more significant.

A Twitter user shared a story of how a Swiggy delivery agent came to the aid of an elderly couple and helped them contact their son living in a different city.

In a series of tweets, Saikiran Kannan shared how his mother, who lives in Bengaluru, helped an elderly couple in Chennai get in touch with their son, who stays in Secunderabad.

Last night, a distant relative of my mother (an old couple) notified her of not being able to reach their son (Let us call him Mr. X) who lives alone in Secunderabad. Mr. X was not answering his phone for the past few days. The old couple shared his house address.

“Last night, a distant relative of my mother (an old couple) notified her of not being able to reach their son (Let us call him Mr X) who lives alone in Secunderabad. Mr X was not answering his phone for the past few days. The old couple shared his house address,” Kannan wrote in the tweet.

Given it was really late on a Sunday night, my mother decided to take a chance with @SwiggyInstamart by choosing some biscuits and juice items to be delivered there. Her idea was to check on Mr. X & ensure he was safe and sound. A police complaint was the next option.@Swiggy

Kannan's mother decided to take an unlikely route, in the form of Swiggy Instamart. "My mother decided to take a chance with @SwiggyInstamart by choosing some biscuits and juice items to be delivered there," Kannan said in a subsequent tweet.

When the Swiggy delivery executive reached the area, he was unable to locate the exact address. His mother eventually asked the man to keep the items for himself and thanked him for his efforts.

The Swiggy delivery man went up to the area (@ 9.15pm IST) but could not find the right house as the address seemed confusing. It was eventually found that the address was not incorrect. After a lot of searching by the Swiggy man, it was deemed futile to continue the search.

“A few minutes later, my mother asked the old couple to share the contacts of some close friends of Mr X to get more info on his place of stay. And Bingo! The address that was shared earlier was messy. Now we got the exact Google maps location of the place where Mr X was staying in with all the right directions and details,” Kannan further said.

Kannan’s mother called the delivery agent again after confirming the correct address. “The delivery man was kind enough to say that he would do it upon completion of his current delivery order,” the tweet said.

He called exactly 30 minutes later, standing outside the flat of the person whom my mother was trying to reach. Once the door opened, he handed over the phone to Mr. X and asked my mom to confirm that he was the one she was looking for. And There he was!

Woman transfers money to the executive’s Google Pay account for his efforts

The Swiggy delivery guy called her up after half an hour and made her talk to the elderly couple's son.

However, it turned out that the couple’s son had been in an accident a few days ago and was under heavy medication. He didn’t want his parents to be worried, and thus had been avoiding their calls.

My mother felt grateful to the Swiggy man (Mr. Srinath Srikanth) who works around the West Venkatapuram, Old Alwal, (Secunderabad area). She asked for his GPay details & transferred some amount for having gone above & beyond to help an old couple get in touch with their dear son!

The man called his parents soon after to narrate the whole incident. Kannan also said that his mother transferred some amount to the executive’s GPay account for his efforts.

People were all praises for the delivery executive. "Kudos to your mother and swiggy delivery man!" a user commented. "Humanity has not died, we are reminded. All those who think otherwise please understand miracles happen. This is one such example. Your Mom has played a brilliant role. Wonderful," another user said.
