An 18-year-old student from the US state of Florida has gone viral after being accepted to 27 colleges and universities, amassing $4 million in scholarship offers.
Getting into a college nowadays is a nightmare for a student. A student has to be consistent from a very young age, especially to get into a college in developed countries like the United States. But imagine being accepted into all the colleges you've wanted.
Well, a gifted teenager from the US state of Florida has gone viral after being accepted to 27 colleges and universities. Not just that, the student has also been offered scholarships worth $4 million (Rs 30 crore).
18-year-old student Jonathan Walker is from Rutherford Senior High in Panama City. He now has to choose which college he would like to study in from 27 colleges. These colleges have some Ivy Leagues names as well including Harvard University, Yale University, and the University of Pennsylvania.
The teenager wasn't expecting to be accepted in all those colleges. He told CBS Miami, ¡°It¡¯s so crazy to think that I applied to all these colleges, and I got in. That¡¯s such a rare thing to occur, but the fact that it did happen, I¡¯m so excited about it."
Jonathan has been earning college credits through the International Baccalaureate Program. He mentioned that his essays helped him get accepted into all these colleges.
He said, "Every campus has something special about it and so, I found something that I loved within all of them," Walker told the Panama City News-Herald. "And I really tried to write about that and show that in my applications."
The boy is not only interested in studies. The Rutherford High School student also plays for the football team.
On top of being involved in sports, he also had time to invent a device that helps people who are blind and/or deaf.
"I've always loved creating devices to help people, so I definitely want to further that," Walker said.
Walker has completed college-level classes in his junior and senior years of high school because the International Baccalaureate Program covers all subjects. It also gives students college credits after they complete assessments.
Moreover, his family supports him no matter what and pushes him to work hard. "I really do look up to them because like they showed me what it's like to be passionate about something," Walker said.
A true inspiration.
