Baby Elephant Was Rejected By Her Herd So She Returned To The Lap Of The Human Who Rescued Her
Amidst all the negativity and news of killings of elephants a heart-warming incident has come forward from one part of the world.
A 2-year-old baby elephant named Chabakeaw was abandoned by her herd and found trapped in mud in Bueng Kan, northeastern Thailand on April 4. She was rescued by wildlife officers.
After taking care of the little jumbo for about 5 months the forest department decided to release the baby back to her herd on September 18. However, the officers found that the baby was abandoned, again, a little far from the release spot.
She was rescued again and then a viral video appeared that show her curled up in the lap of the person who rescued her, her human ¡®parent¡¯. As we know, elephants have strong memories, she remembered who had rescued her the first time over and instantly went to him.
Pichet Noonto, an elephant specialist form the IUCN Species Survival Commission, explained, ¡°We believe that she was not accepted by the herd leader which is a consequence of her being raised by humans for over five months. She would have had difficulty adapting to the elephant behaviour in the wild and been kicked away. We will take care of her while we plan her future, but sending her back to the herd again might not be one of the options.¡±
