Central Railway Station Staff Help 25-YO Woman Deliver Her Baby At Mumbai's Panvel Station

The Central Railway staff helped a 25-year old passenger deliver a baby girl in the ladies waiting room of Mumbai's Panvel station.

The woman identified as Dolly Sani was travelling from Kozhikode to Hazrat Nizamuddin, when she went into labour on reaching Panvel.

The railway officials immediately rushed to her rescue, she was deboarded and a doctor from the station's emergency medical room helped her with the delivery.

Both the mother and baby girl were then shifted to a hospital.

The railway officials later contacted and informed Sani's husband about her delivery. The Central Railway has termed the incident as an Independence Day gift by the Indian Railways to a fellow citizen.

In a similar incident, a woman, travelling on the Mumbai-Varanasi special train, gave birth to a child at the Igatpuri railway station in Maharashtra with the help of the railway medical team.

According to the Railways, a woman named Priyanka went into labour when the train was about to reach Igatpuri. The station manager immediately informed the railway health unit, asking for assistance.

"Dr Jyotsana, the Additional Divisional Medical Officer, and a team attended the patient and advised her to deboard at Igatpuri. Priyanka, who was already in labour pain, delivered a healthy baby at the station itself with the assistance of the railway medical team," said the railway authorities.

According to the Railways, the newborn and the mother were later shifted to Rural Hospital in Igatpuri by ambulance, for post-natal treatment.
