Brave Woman Donates Her Breast Milk To Sick Babies After She Gave Birth To A Stillborn Son
Sarah Lampley has donated over 800oz of the 'liquid gold' in her son Legend's memory after he was stillborn. Legend saved his mum's life by preventing blood clots from moving around her body.
A woman who nearly died during childbirth and delivered a stillborn son has donated 50 pints of her breast milk to sick babies.
This 34-year-old woman named Sarah Lampley was left heartbroken when she started bleeding heavily in her 38th week of pregnancy. The woman was almost dead after she experienced placental abruption and tragically lost baby Legend.
The little baby's three brothers have named him a ¡®superhero¡¯ after his positioning in the womb prevented blood clots from moving to other parts of her body, saving their mum¡¯s life.
But to honour and respect the little baby, Sarah returned from the hospital and donated her milk. According to a Metro UK report, the 34-year-old has donated over 800oz of breast milk to the Mother¡¯s Milk Bank of Alabama in the US.
"A few days after delivering my son, I still had to go through postpartum which was really hard for me, but what made me feel worse was the thought of throwing my milk away," said Sarah.
Fortunately, Sarah has a supportive family where her husband and three sons support her decision.
"My husband was worried that it would be hard, and he was protective of my feelings, but once he saw how happy it made me, he was on board. It was really encouraging and kept me going. I¡¯ve met some mums who donated because they didn¡¯t want their babies to be forgotten,¡± said Sarah. ¡®When my sons asked who the milk was for, their little faces lit up and they said: ¡°Good job mummy¡±, she added.
After sharing news of her donations, Sarah has been contacted by other mothers who lost children, as well as those whose premature children have benefited from milk donations.
The courageous woman has documented her journey through a blog and social media pages, which has gained the attention of many other women who have been through a similar experience.
Despite doing so much, Sarah and her family are still coming to terms with the loss of Legend. The mum-of-four revealed that she has not yet been able to go into the nursery which the couple had painted for his arrival.
She hopes that her baby lives on through this and gets all the love he deserves through everyone's prayers. She added, "It makes you realise that you do have the strength inside, even if you didn't think it was there. I feel forever changed but I want to use this for good. I know that even in our darkest hours we can still be a light to others."
