Scandals and social media go hand in hand, but this one? It's sending shockwaves through the internet. A controversial episode of India's Got Latent, featuring YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia (aka BeerBiceps), influencer Apoorva Makhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and Jaspreet Singh, and comedian Samay Raina, has been completely erased from YouTube after an uproar over an "objectionable" remark.
India's Got Latent episode which is all over the internet
It all started when Allahbadia made an ill-advised comment about parents and intimacy on the comedy reality show, known for its edgy humour. However, what might have been intended as a joke turned into a firestorm of criticism, with viewers branding it as inappropriate and offensive. The backlash was swift and brutal¡ªcomplaints poured in, FIRs were filed, and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) stepped in, directing YouTube to remove the video.

The controversy didn't stop there. The Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra State Women's Commission also received complaints against not just Allahbadia but his fellow panelists as well. As the internet fumed, the show's producers scrambled to contain the damage. The episode vanished from YouTube and the show's mobile app, effectively wiping out all traces of the debacle.
Ranveer Allahbadia aka Beer Viceps apologised
Amid the chaos, Allahbadia took to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a damage-control apology, admitting that appearing on the show was a mistake. He reportedly acknowledged that comedy wasn't his forte and that his comment was neither funny nor appropriate. The YouTuber made it clear that he wouldn't attempt to justify his words, instead conceding that it was a lapse in judgment.
But the internet isn't in a forgiving mood. Furious netizens have now escalated their demands, calling for the revocation of Allahbadia's Disruptor of the Year award, which he received from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2024. With police investigations underway, the episode's erasure isn't enough to put out the fire¡ªthis controversy is far from over.
