Internet digs up Kapil Sharma's old 'ma baap ki kabaddi' remark made before the Ranveer Allahbadia controversy
Ranveer Allahbadia's remark continues to spark backlash, leading to multiple complaints and an ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, an old clip of Kapil Sharma's joke on a similar topic has resurfaced, reigniting debate online.
The Ranveer Allahbadia 'parents s*x' joke on Samay Raina's India's Got Latent has snowballed and how, leading Raina to delete all videos of the show. Meanwhile, the internet has now unearthed an old joke from Comedy Nights with Kapil, bringing comedian Kapil Sharma into the spotlight as the clip goes viral.
In the episode, Kapil Sharma joked about kids waking up as early as 4 AM to watch cricket matches.
Referring to this, he said, "Cricket ka match shuru hona that 4 baje, aur phir yeh ma baa ki kabaddi dekh ke so jaate hai." (The match starts at 4 AM, but before that, they watch their parents' kabaddi and fall asleep.)
After the clip resurfaced online, social media had mixed reactions. Some criticised the remark, while others defended Kapil, saying it was open to interpretation and not necessarily vulgar, as 'kabaddi' could simply refer to a fight between parents.
One Reddit user pointed out that Kapil's humour was subtle, unlike Ranveer's joke, which was exaggerated for shock value.
Update in the Ranveer Allahbadia-Samay Raina case
Comedian Samay Raina has spoken out for the first time since the controversy erupted earlier this week.
On Wednesday (February 12, 2025), he announced that all episodes of India's Got Latent have been removed from his YouTube channel, and said that the situation has been "too much to handle."
Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all Indias Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly.¡

Sharing a statement across social media, Raina said, "Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all 'India's Got Latent' videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you."
The controversy began after influencer Ranveer Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, made a joke about parents and s*x on Raina's show.
The clip went viral on Monday (February 10, 2025), sparking widespread backlash and multiple police complaints in Mumbai and Guwahati.
Allahbadia, 31, has apologised, calling it a "lapse in judgment," but the issue continues to escalate.
The remark that triggered the controversy was a disturbing "Would you rather" question about witnessing or participating in a parental s*x act, which many found highly inappropriate.
I shouldn't have said what I said on India's got latent. I'm sorry. pic.twitter.com/BaLEx5J0kd
