IPL 2025: RCB break Wankhede curse with 12-run win over MI; but why is CSK being trolled?
While many expected Mumbai Indians (MI) to be on the receiving end of online banter following their loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), fans were quick to drag Chennai Super Kings (CSK) into the conversation too.

Another day, another streak broken! What a thriller¡ªpacked with twists, momentum shifts, and a finish that almost went down to the wire. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who hadn¡¯t tasted victory at the Wankhede Stadium against Mumbai Indians (MI) since 2015, finally broke the curse and conquered MI¡¯s fortress after a decade-long wait.
With this hard-fought 12-run win, RCB hold firm at 3rd place on the IPL 2025 points table, boasting 3 wins from 4 games and a strong, positive Net Run Rate (NRR) to go with it.

What happened between MI vs RCB
This thriller had fans on edge till the last over, but RCB held their nerve when it mattered most to clinch a hard-fought win. It was a memorable Pandya brothers face-off, with Krunal emerging victorious as Hardik watched on, emotional in the dugout after a valiant all-round effort. Batting first, RCB posted a strong total, powered by fifties from Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar, plus key cameos from Devdutt Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma.
MI started their chase well with Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton but faltered as RCB's spin duo¡ªKrunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma¡ªtightened the screws in the middle overs. At 99/4 in 12 overs, MI looked in trouble, but Hardik and Tilak Varma blasted 58 in three overs to revive hope.
However, Bhuvneshwar removed Tilak in the 18th, and Hazlewood dismissed Hardik at the start of the 19th¡ªswinging the game back RCB's way. With 19 needed off the final over, Krunal stepped up with the ball, taking three wickets and sealing a famous RCB win with his best-ever IPL figures.
Why is CSK getting trolled after RCB's win?
While many expected MI to be on the receiving end of online banter following their loss to RCB, fans were quick to drag Chennai Super Kings (CSK) into the conversation too. The reason? RCB recently snapped their long-standing losing streak at Chepauk against CSK, and now they've done the same at Wankhede against MI¡ªboth five-time IPL champions.
Adding fuel to the fire is the current points table: MI sits at 8th with just one win in five matches, while CSK is right below at 9th with one win in four. Naturally, the trolls were out in full force.
Fans troll MI and CSK while applauding RCB
Clearly, RCB fans are having their moment¡ªand they¡¯re not letting it go unnoticed. On X (formerly Twitter), RCB fans celebrated the historic away wins while taking digs at the two powerhouse franchises.
One wrote, "Whether it's peak or downfall, CSK and MI will always stay together."
