BLACKPINK's Lisa is set to have an eventful year. After her acting debut with the third season of Mike White's Emmy-winning series The White Lotus on February 16, Lisa will drop her full-length album Alter Ego coming out on February 28. Ahead of the release of her album, the Thai star has been teasing her alter egos, each one showcasing a different side of her personality and style. Recently, she introduced her latest persona, Vixi, who is supposed to be the embodiment of her "villain era.". However, instead of being perceived as cool and tough, many fans are finding Vixi to be more cringeworthy than anything else.

Vixi's edgy and rebellious personality is supposed to be a departure from Lisa's usual sweet and charming image, but it seems that fans are just not buying it. Some have compared Vixi to an edgy internet trend from the early 2000s, while others have said that she stole a page from a teenager's slam book.

Vixi's description has also been called awkward by fans, with many comparing it to peak Y2K Wattpad fan fiction. The description, titled Only baddies allowed, reads, "Oh, you've heard of me? Good, I'm Vixi... the only one they love to call the "villain.". But this is just not it; here's the alleged cringe part: "My lashes came to slay so deep out of my way, my nails cut deeper than your excuses. I'm too busy living in my villain era; let the haters hate. So, what's it going to be¡ªfriend or foe? Are you rolling with me, or am I running you over?"

Fans are not impressed by Lisa's Vixi

On Reddit, fans discussed the alter ego, with one user writing, "It's giving Wattpad character description," implying that the concept is overly dramatic and trying too hard to be edgy.

Another fan was even more blunt, stating, "This may be the single cringiest thing I've ever seen. And I've been in K-pop a long time." A third fan expressed their disappointment, saying, "I love her so much, but these descriptions (and even images) are so juvenile and bland." They also noted that the album concept and rollout so far have been surprisingly "K-poppy" for a non-Korean member, and that the alter ego theme could have been cool with bolder creative direction.

Fans are also questioning who is behind the writing of the alter ego descriptions, with one user joking, "I'm not even trying to diss, but I am just so curious as to who is writing these because it could be anyone. An AI robot, a non-native English speaker, a 14-year-old child, or a millennial/Gen X corporate worker trying to blend in. The possibilities are endless." Despite the criticism, fans are still looking forward to seeing what's next, with the same user adding, "Anyways, it's getting entertaining, and I'm looking forward to every new one."
