John Cena to defend Undisputed Championship against Ron ¡®R-Truth¡¯ Killings and not CM Punk at WWE Night of Champions?
CM Punk may be removed from his match against John Cena at Night of Champions 2025 on The Rock¡¯s orders. This may pave the way for Ron ¡®R-Truth¡¯ Killings to enter the fray as a last-minute replacement.

CM Punk is set to challenge John Cena for the Undisputed Championship at Night of Champions 2025 later this month. The match, which was made official on this week¡¯s episode of Raw, has created a great deal of buzz among fans as the two had a classic rivalry over a decade ago. However, there is a possibility of Ron ¡®R-Truth¡¯ Killings replacing the ¡®Second City Saint¡¯ in the eagerly-awaited encounter.
Ron Killings to replace CM Punk in his match against John Cena?
CM Punk verbally berated John Cena on the latest episode of WWE Raw and hit out at him for ¡®selling out¡¯ to The Rock at Elimination Chamber. Punk further added that, unlike ¡®The Champ¡¯, he does not need to ¡®kiss the Final Boss¡¯ a*s¡¯. In doing so, he directly insulted The Rock. ¡®The Brahma Bull¡¯ may retaliate by using his position as a TKO board member to strip Punk of the opportunity. Following this, Ron Killings may step in as a replacement.
The 53-year-old has had his fair share of issues with Cena in recent times. ¡®The Franchise Player¡¯ assaulted and defeated him in a non-title match at Saturday Night¡¯s Main Event. Killings got a measure of revenge on Cena at Money in the Bank (June 7) when he cost the soon-to-retire star and Logan Paul their main event match against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. As such, storyline wise he could be the best replacement for Punk if the WWE goes in this direction.
Moreover, this would also allow the promotion to do Punk-Cena at SummerSlam, one of the company¡¯s ¡®big four¡¯ Premium Live Events.
That said, this discussion is purely speculative as nothing is set in stone
¡®You¡¯ brought Ron Killings back to the WWE
Earlier this month, R-Truth announced that his contract would not be renewed after it expired. This sparked outrage on social media with fans slamming the WWE. Amid this, the veteran showed up at Money in the Bank. It was soon reported that WWE decided to give him a new deal because of fan backlash. On the June 9th episode of Raw, Killings cut his locks and announced that he would no longer be a ¡®comedy act¡¯.
