PM Modi announced that from March 25 the entire country of India is going to be on a curfew-like lockdown owing to the spread of coronavirus. During the 21-day lockdown, apart from essentials like groceries, dairies, fish, medicines etc, no other businesses will be running.
One thing that PM Modi kept on insisting, like experts around the world, is the importance of social distancing. Even when one goes out to buy grocery or medicines it is important to maintain distance from others. In order to ensure that some places in the country have come up with an innovative idea.
A small town reportedly in Pune is setting an example of how vegetables and fruits should be bought, by avoiding panic and close contact with others.
Police in Pune district's Talegoan has made arrangements for people to buy vegetables and fruits by marking out the 1.5 metre distance, that has been prescribed by the WHO.
The images of the same are going viral on social media. In his speech, PM Modi talked about a Laxman Rekha outside people's homes, and asked them not to cross it. These seem like mini laxman rekhas to ensure people don't step in others' space.
Something similar was observed in Puducherry where people queued up outside a milk shop to buy essentials. The queue had substantial distance between two people.

A few days ago, an example of social distancing was seen when an image of a queue outside a Kerala liquor shop, went viral.
In his address PM Modi, ¡°To save India, to save its every citizen, you and your family...every street, every neighbourhood is being put under lockdown.¡±
Talking about how crucial it is to break the chain, PM said, ¡°It is a kind of curfew. If we are not able to manage the upcoming 21 days (of nationwide complete lockdown), we will be pushed back 21 years. Today, India is at the stage where our actions will decide to what extent we can bring down the impact of this disaster. This is the time to strengthen our resolve again.¡±
Strict actions have been announced against people who venture out of their homes without any reason and those who are agents of false information.
