In Order To Beat The Heat, Man Installs Window AC In The Boot Of His Tata Punch
As car ACs take longer to cool down the cabin, a vehicle owner came up with a novel idea of using a window AC inside the car.
Summers can be horrible in India and as you would expect, car users also face the brunt of soaring temperatures. As car ACs take longer to cool down the cabin, a vehicle owner came up with a novel idea of using a window AC inside the car.
A YouTuber, who runs a channel named FWS - FunWithScience, shared a video showing a Tata Punch SUV being installed with a window AC in the rear of the cabin of the car.
UP man installs window AC in the boot of his car
In the video, the man talks about extreme hot temperatures where he lives, and how difficult he finds it to get into his car when it's parked in the sun for a while.
As a result, he first puts the stock AC of Tata Punch to the test. In the beginning, the outside temperature is approximately 41 degrees Celsius whereas cabin temperature is recorded at 36 degrees Celsius.
After running the car¡¯s AC for 20 minutes, the cabin temperature drops to 24 degrees Celsius. It further drops to 20 degrees Celsius after 30 minutes. Tata Punch's AC works quite well even though it takes some time for the car¡¯s aircon to cool down the cabin.
Car can't be driven while AC unit is switched on
To combat this heat, the owner comes up with a rather novel idea. He installs a Bluestar window AC in the boot of Tata Punch. Along with the AC unit, the batteries that power it and an inverter are also placed next to it.
Next, he shows how the home AC unit is much more effective in cooling the car. Clearly, the AC unit takes lesser time to cool down the cabin. The AC, however, eats up almost all of the boot space.
In order for the window AC in the car to work, the boot lid has to be kept open at all times. This is done in order to dissipate the hot air flowing out from the back of the car. For the same reason, the car can't be driven while the AC unit is switched on and hence, it's parked in different locations to gauge public response.
The video has garnered more than 2,00,000 views and hundreds of comments.
"Better pls install Daikin roof ac, atleast you will get the rear seat back for practical usage," a user joked. "Tests a rock (Good absorbant of heat) and shows 41¡ãc. Proceeds to install a window AC. I have so many questions running in my mind," another user said. "The car AC is very efficient and in most cases I am having to turn it off intermittently. This is a overkill," a third user said.
