In an exciting turn of events, the life of a US woman changed overnight. Lucia Forseth, a homeless US woman a few years ago, has hit the jackpot and won $5 million (approximately Rs 40 crore) from a Scratchers ticket.
A press release by the California Lottery reveals that Forseth has been working hard to improve her situation after being homeless in 2017.
She purchased a single Scratchers ticket while at a Walmart Supercenter in Pittsburg and was shocked when it turned out to be the big winner. "I only bought one ticket," Forseth told the lottery officials.
Lucia Forseth closed her eyes while picking her lottery ticket; little did she know she was about to win a life-changing $5 million.
At first, she misunderstood that she had only won another free ticket, but the reality finally hit her.
"I closed my eyes and picked that one, and it won! I first thought I¡¯d won a free ticket, but I checked, and it said I won $5 million," Lucia shared.
The moment of the win was even more special because Lucia had purchased a ticket called 2023, adding a deeper meaning to the moment.
She reminisced about her struggles of being homeless and watched her life change for the better year after year.
She is getting married and pursuing her associate degree this year, and the lottery amount has just doubled the celebration.
"I was homeless. I am getting married, getting my associate degree, and winning $5 million this year," Lucia exclaimed.
Lucia plans to use the lump sum to purchase a permanent house and invest some of the money for the future. "You never think you have a chance to win it. It is just random. Being homeless just a few years ago, I never thought it would happen to someone like me," she said.
In a similar story, a generous gambler handed a scratch card lottery ticket to four beggars outside a lottery shop in the western port city of Brest, France.
The four men, in their thirties, divided the jackpot prize of $59,000 (approximately Rs 48 lakh) equally.
A small act of kindness that changed their lives forever.
