K-drama blues hit Study Group fans hard as they demand season 2 despite deserving finale: 'We need to see them successful'

The recently concluded K-drama, Study Group, had fans hooked from start to finish despite limited promotional activities due to the enlistment of lead actor Hwang Minhyun. The series, which premiered on TVING, shattered rating records, ranking high in various metrics. Currently sitting at a glorious 8.5 IMDb rating, the action comedy drama earned a 9.8 rating on Rakuten Viki, breaking into the list of top 5 dramas in 143 countries. As the drama blues hit fans hard after its conclusion last week, they've now been demanding a second season.

What is Study Group about?

Study Group, which premiered on January 23, follows Yoon Ga-min (played by Hwang Minhyun), a high school student who struggles in academics but can put up a good fight any day. As he enters the cutthroat world of exams for college entrance, he forms a study group. In between building his academic portfolio, he also fiercely protects his friends from bullies.

Aside from Hwang Minhyun, the drama also features Han Ji Eun, Cha Woo Min, Lee Jong Hyun, and Shin Soo Hyun in pivotal roles. The drama is adapted from a NAVER webtoon of the same name, which has gained popularity for offering a fresh blend of action and comedy genres. The webtoon is currently in its third season, which leaves the possibility for a second season and, subsequently, a third part.

Fans demand Study Group Season 2 after K-drama finale

Following a blockbuster finale, fans have now been pinning their hopes on Study Group Season 2. Many took to X to share their reviews of the high school drama while also demanding makers to already chalk out plans for a new season.

Korean streaming giant TVING has kept quiet on Study Group Season 2 despite the buzz surrounding the first part. However, fans feel the makers left loose ends in the first part to leave room for a fresh season.
