In a press conference on Monday, the actor confirmed his past relationship with Kim Sae Ron but denied allegations from the actress's family, specifically the claim that she took her own life due to him or his agency¡¯s financial pressures.

Kim Soo Hyun, known for his role in Queen of Tears, expressed deep remorse during the conference, stating, "First of all, I am truly sorry. Because of me, so many people are suffering, and I deeply regret that the late Kim Sae Ron isn¡¯t able to rest in peace."

Kim Soo Hyun reflects on his hesitation to speak out

The actor reflected on his reluctance to speak out about his relationship with Kim Sae Ron, explaining that he had avoided doing so out of concern for the people around him. "It was the same when Kim Sae Ron posted a picture of us during the airing of Queen of Tears,¡± he shared. ¡°We had been together for about a year, around four years before the drama aired, but at the time, I denied our relationship. I understand that people have every right to criticize my decision."

Kim Soo Hyun went on to describe the pressure he felt while starring in the drama. "When Queen of Tears was airing, I had so much to protect as the lead actor. If I had admitted to a year-long relationship, I wondered what impact it would have had on the cast, the crew working overnight, and the production team that had invested everything into that project. What about our agency employees? Could I make that decision just for my own peace of mind?" he said, choking up. "The more I thought about it, the more I realized that I couldn¡¯t just do what felt easiest for me."

Kim Soo Hyun denied any connection between his actions and Kim Sae Ron¡¯s tragic death. "I want to make it clear¡ªKim Sae Ron did not make that tragic choice because of me or because of any debt repayment issues involving my agency," he said, his voice breaking.

Actor addresses Garosero's threats

The actor also addressed the threats he had received from the Garosero Research Institute, which had reportedly tried to coerce him into admitting to fabricated claims or releasing personal photos. "I would never have been threatened daily about photos or false accusations if I hadn¡¯t been subjected to this manipulation.
