A day after the agency filed a criminal complaint against members of the late actress' family and Garosero, it has now been reported that they have decided to cancel paying condolences money to the bereaved family.

According to a Koreaboo report, Gold Medalist was contemplating sending condolence money to Kim Sae Ron's family. However, this plan has been scrapped after Kim Soo Hyun's private photo leaked. Concerns over potential legal repercussions reportedly drove the agency's decision.

Reportedly, the agency was wary that their gesture, despite being well-intentioned, could be misinterpreted as an attempt to bribe the bereaved family, particularly if the offer were to be declined.

The agency had initially intended to resolve issues with the late actress's family through open dialogue and communication.

However, following the leak of the private photo, which quickly went viral on social media, Gold Medallist has shifted its strategy. The agency has hired a new crisis management team to handle the situation and is now planning to take prompt action against Kim Sae Ron's family.

Gold Medalist issues clarification on Kim Soo Hyun's naked photo

In response to the leaked photo, Gold Medalist issued a statement explaining that the image was taken in 2019 when Kim Sae Ron was an adult. The agency emphasised that there is no justification for the indiscriminate exposure of private photos of Kim Soo Hyun and the late actress. The photos in question were reportedly taken on December 14, 2019.

Prior to the release of the explicit photo, Gold Medalist had been attempting to establish communication with Kim Sae Ron's family, with the goal of resolving the ongoing issues and clearing up what they perceived as a "misunderstanding". However, following the publication of the private photo, the agency has scrapped its plans for reconciliation.

On March 20, 2025, Gold Medalist announced that it had filed criminal lawsuits against the operator of Garo Sero Research Institute and members of Kim Sae-ron's family. The agency alleged that the defendants shared a private photo of Kim Soo Hyun, which constitutes sexual harassment.

They said, ¡°GOLD MEDALIST, as the agency managing actor Kim Soo Hyun, has filed a criminal complaint against Kim Sae Out, the operator of the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as ¡®Garo Sero¡¯), who posted a photo of actor Kim Soo Hyun taken with his pants down during a live broadcast on his YouTube channel today. The criminal complaint is also pertaining to the bereaved family of the late actress Kim Sae Ron and an unidentified individual claiming to be Kim Sae Ron¡¯s aunt, who allegedly provided the photo to Kim Sae Out, leading him to post it.¡±

The lawsuit claims that sharing the private photo of the Queen of Tears actor amounts to sexual harassment. Additionally, Gold Medalist stated that the defendants are being charged with violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc., of Sexual Crimes. Specifically, the charges relate to the distribution of footage filmed using cameras, among other violations."

"Posting such a photo on a YouTube channel is clearly a criminal act, and Garo Sero has been threatening Kim Soo Hyun by stating their intention to continue releasing similar photos. Therefore, Gold Medalist is left with no choice but to take strong legal action against such behaviour," their statement concluded.
