According to a ToI report, the Merseyside Police have arrested a 53-year-old British man from the Liverpool area in connection with the incident, who confirmed that it is not being treated as an act of terrorism. The police said that they did not believe the incident was terrorism-related, and cops have ruled out terrorism.
However, as per the police, the man acted alone, and the incident is not being treated as terrorism.

Around 20 people were injured, and 27 people have been hospitalised
During the incident, around twenty people were treated on the scene, and 27 people were hospitalised, including four children, reported Reuters. Two of them, a child and an adult, are critically injured.
Amid this, a video of the incident is now doing the rounds on social media, showing a dark grey car running into the crowd, ramping several people in its way without the car slowing down.
In the viral video, people are seen rushing out of the car, and they can be seen shouting out of panic.

Eyewitnesses share their reactions
According to BBC Radio, an eyewitness of the incident, Chelsea, told the radio station that it was the screams of the people that alerted the crowds, as the car did not show any signs of slowing down.
The woman said that with the commotion, that was the only reason they looked up and managed to jump out of the way in time. While another said Harry Rashid, who was at the site with his wife and two daughters, told the Associated Press that it was extremely fast and they could hear the pop, pop, pop of people just being knocked off the bonnet of a car.

Not only this, but after this, the crowd surrounded the minivan, which began smashing its windows.
¡°But then he put his foot down again and just ploughed through the rest of them; he just kept going¡It was horrible. And you could hear the bumps as he was going over the people¡My daughter started screaming, and there were people on the ground,¡± Rashid added.
