On the other hand, according to a News24 report, a hospital source revealed that a piece of a knife was found embedded in Saif's body. How dangerous are knife injuries? Let's find out.
Different knife injuries pose varying risks depending on where the wound is, how deep it is, and how severe the injury is. ¡°A superficial cut may require only basic first aid, while a deep cut may result in damage to muscles, nerves, or blood vessels that can cause significant blood loss or long-term problems. Injuries in locations around vital organs are at a greater risk for internal bleeding or organ damage, which can be life-threatening,¡± explains Dr. Shrey Srivastava, Senior Consultant-Internal Medicine, at Sharda Hospital.
Currently, Saif Ali Khan is undergoing cosmetic surgery, which will take around an hour or two to get over.

What is the recovery rate for injuries with knives or sharp objects?
Rapid medical care is crucial, especially if the wound fails to cease bleeding, or there are signs of infection or the inability to move properly. Through puncture wounds, infections may be introduced, especially if the knife is unclean. Emergency assistance by way of direct pressure over the injury to halt abnormal bleeding may be life-saving until further assistance is reached.
The risk of a knife injury mainly depends on various factors, including the depth, location, and structures affected by the attack. According to Dr. Rituja Ugalmugle, Internal Medicine, Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai Central, ¡°Superficial cuts may heal if proper care is taken, but the deeper wounds can damage the vital blood vessels, and this can affect the heart, lungs, or intestines.¡±
Additionally, there is also a risk of infection if the knife or the sharp object is contaminated.
Tips on recovery in such cases
Seek emergency medical help immediately for wound cleaning, stitching, or surgery, and ensure a tetanus shot if the knife is unsterile. ¡°Start by applying firm pressure to stop bleeding and elevate the injured area, avoiding the removal of embedded objects; under no circumstances is immediate medical help available,¡± says Dr. Ugalmugle.
Following this, clean the wound properly to prevent infections and watch out for signs such as redness, swelling, or fever; if the patient reports these symptoms, report them promptly.
