The message immediately set off alarm bells. Mumbai Police have filed an official complaint and are now investigating where the message came from and who¡¯s behind it. Salman lives with his family in Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, Mumbai, a place that's now no stranger to security concerns.
It was exactly a year ago on 14th April 2024 that two unknown armed men opened fire outside his home, an incident later linked to the Bishnoi gang. Since then, the actor's security has been tightened significantly, but the threats haven¡¯t stopped. In fact, this is the fifth time in just two years that Salman has received threats to his life.
A quick look back at the last few concerning years for Salman Khan
This latest threat follows a series of similar incidents involving Khan. In October 2024, a message demanding Rs 5 crore was sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police's WhatsApp helpline, warning that failure to pay would result in consequences worse than the murder of Baba Siddique, a former NCP legislator and close associate of Khan. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for Siddique's murder, citing his association with Khan as the motive.
Law enforcement agencies have been actively investigating these threats. In one instance, a 20-year-old man named Mohammad Tayyab, also known as Gurfan Khan, was arrested in Noida for allegedly issuing a death threat to Khan and NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique. Additionally, a man from Jamshedpur was arrested in connection with a separate threat demanding ?5 crore from Khan.
Earlier, in 2022, a threatening letter was found near Salman¡¯s home and in 2023, an email allegedly from gangster Goldy Brar threatened Khan's life. In response to these threats, authorities had back then enhanced Khan's security, assigning him Y+ security status, which includes a team of armed personnel.
High-resolution surveillance cameras with facial recognition technology were also installed around his residence to monitor any suspicious activity. A bulletproof glass ceiling has also been installed at his house very recently.
