Britney Spears' upcoming biopic is one of the most exciting projects. Based on her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, the biopic will be directed by Jon M. Chu, who is fresh from his success with Wicked (2024), which received an impressive 10 Academy Award nominations.
Given the deeply personal nature of her memoir, Jon revealed that Britney will be "very involved" in the making of her biopic. While he chose to keep things under wraps, saying it's still in early stages, the casting process for Britney Spears' biopic is already generating a lot of buzz. According to insiders, Britney is heavily involved in choosing the perfect actress to play her, and she has two A-list stars in mind: Selena Gomez and Natalie Portman.
Britney has long been a fan of Natalie Portman, but many people think that Selena Gomez would be a great fit to play the part, thanks to her own experience as a singer and performer.
When Selena Gomez performed Spears' 'Don't Go Knockin' on My Door'
Selena has an impressive singing portfolio and has been in the entertainment industry since she was a child. The Disney alum has been a huge fan of the Gimme More singer and once flaunted her singing talent, rocking Spears' iconic hit Don't Go Knockin' on My Door.
Back in 2021, the Only Murders in the Building star took to Instagram to share a video of her younger self singing along to Britney Spears classic in front of a galaxy-themed background while rocking blue sunglasses. "The hustle was real," she captioned. Check out the video below:
Just for the record, the admiration is mutual between the two pop stars. In 2018, Britney posted a video of her workout on Instagram, revealing that she was listening to Selena's song Bad Liar and credited her with helping her get through the tough exercise session, saying Gomez "definitely helped me get through it."
