40 Kg Silver Slab To Be Placed During 'Bhumi Pujan' At Ram Mandir In Ayodhya, On August 5

A silver slab which will weigh about 40 kilograms will be placed in the sanctum sanctorum of the proposed grand Ram temple in Ayodhya, during the 'bhoomi pujan' ceremony. The puja is scheduled to be held on August 5 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance, reported IANS.

It will be a three-day affair which will kick off on August 3 and and end on August 5.

According to spokesman of the temple trust chief Mahant Nritya Gopal Das said that priests from Varanasi will conduct the rituals. These same priests supervised the shifting of the Ram Lalla idol to a new structure back in the month of March.

The Ramacharya puja will be conducted on August 4.

Ram Mandir Bhumi Pujan Date

After detailed calculation of planetary configurations, priests have set an auspicious time of 12.13 p.m. when the foundation of the temple will be laid.

Triloki Nath Pandey, decree holder of Ram Janmabhoomi, said that the ceremony on August 5 is 'bhumi pujan' and not 'shilanyas' which was already performed in 1989 by current Trust member Kameshwar Chaupal, during the tenure of the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Even though a formal invite has been sent to the Prime Minister's office, there is no official confirmation of his schedule but a tentative programme has been fixed for the time being.

A member of the Trust, Anil Mishra, said that the proposed temple will also have a world class museum where people will be able to see the archaeological artifacts excavated from the Ram Janmabhoomi site.

Some of the artifacts are already on display at Ram Katha Sangrahalaya.

According to officials of Archaeological Survey of India, there are over 400 centuries-old artifacts which are currently kept inside a 25x50 square feet shed on the site. There are also scores of pottery and antiques in Manas Bhavan.
