Andhra Pradesh: 140 Kg Marijuana Seized After The Car Carrying It Met With An Accident
In another cannabis-related incident, a total of 140 kilograms of ganja (cannabis) was found in a car that met with an accident on a National Highway near Andhra Pradesh's Kesarapalli village.
Every day we come across news of marijuana - being seized, used or secretly smuggled. If it is not a loud discussion on our televisions about who's smoking it, it is about cops catching dealers who are in involved in its illegal trade. By now, we have come across plenty of such stories and the following is the latest addition to the long list.
In another cannabis-related incident, a total of 140 kilograms of ganja (cannabis) was found in a car that met with an accident on a National Highway near Andhra Pradesh's Kesarapalli village.
According to Gannavaram police station Sub-Inspector Purushottam, the car was abandoned by the driver and passenger after the incident took place.

"A car was travelling towards Vijayawada. As the car crossed the Kesarapalli village around 6 am, it lost balance, hit the divider, and the traffic signal pole. By 10 am, the police reached the spot and found that the people in the car had abandoned it. On checking, 70 packets of cannabis, weighing almost 2 kg each were found inside," SI Purushottam said. The vehicle as well as cannabis has been seized by the police.
A few days ago, Odisha broke a rather infamous record - as of September 30, over 1054 quintals of Ganja had been seized in the state, this year. DGP Abhay on Tuesday said that this was the highest seizure by the state police in any year.
The maximum seizure of Ganja (cannabis) has been made from Koraput (413.14 quintals), followed by Malkangiri (240.66 quintals) and Gajapati (126.58 quintals).
¡°Action against drug trafficking has remained among the highest priorities of Odisha government. Accordingly, Odisha Police has accelerated concerted drive against brown sugar and Ganja/Cannabis during the current year,¡± said DGP Abhay.
In another incident last month, the UK police had seized more than ?500,000 worth of marijuana from underground bunkers on a farm in Linconshire, England. According to a LadBible report, officers, drones and dogs were left onto the farm in Skendleby, who then came across the cannabis.
Officers discovered four bunkers of 12 shipping containers 20 feet below some barns, containing weed worth ?580,000 (Rs 5.5 crore). The police officials spent a total of nine days searching the site. Aside from the marijuana, they came across more than 300 tonnes of illegal waste, a shotgun and six stolen cars.
