Stunning Future Concept Unveiled, Giant 550-metre-tall Ring To Surround Burj Khalifa
An architecture company named Znera space has created a visual concept of a giant ring 550 metres above ground around Burj Khalifa.
An architectural company named Znera Space has introduced a stunning concept design which will include the tallest free-standing structure in the world - Burj Khalifa.

The planned concept which is known as Downtown Circle is a 550-metre-tall ring, which will surround the Burj Khalifa. Designers have given a lot of thought to this new structure which will be a welcome change from gated societies and skyscraper homes. It is also intended to be sustainable and self-sufficient.
The pictures and illustrations of the said idea have been shared by the firm and that is hoped will encompass all of Downtown Dubai with a circumference of three kilometres.
The entire concept is to build densely while still retaining livability. Znera Space has shared the pictures and the concept on their Instagram page. Along with the beautiful visuals, the caption said, "As a response to the dilemma of how to build densely while retaining liveability, the downtown circle project establishes a sustainable and self-sufficient vertical urbanism. As a singular mega building complex, it aims to create a hyper-efficient urban centre that gives back to the environment The proposed 550-meter tall mega structure offers an alternative to the singular and unconnected high-rises found in most metropolitan areas."
According to The National News, the entire ring will be broken down into smaller units, which will contain homes as well as public, commercial and cultural spaces.
The Instagram posts also described the exact job of the sphirical vessels. The caption read, "a fleet of suspended peripheral pods transport passengers from one node to another in the Downtown circle. These suspended vessels, travel through a network of rail at the bottom tier to get to their destination."
This beautiful and futuristic project has been drawn by Najmus Chowdry and Nils Remess, co-founders of Znera Space, who often focus on experimental architecture that explores and addresses social boundaries and environmental issues.
Idea for a more sustainable living in cities
The idea of Downtown Circle was created during the pandemic time. This was done to rethink the way people live in cities and also how can there be change living in skyscrapers.
¡°We wanted to go down to the basics of how gated communities were established as a very horizontal built environment,¡± Chowdry tells The National. ¡°But you can¡¯t have that here because of the dense urban fabric of Dubai. The best way to explore and practise this concept was in Downtown itself.¡±
¡°The concept was of a vertical city,¡± adds Remess. ¡°When Covid-19 hit hard, we thought a lot about suitability and how can we change things, and how we can create better urban planning. We looked at aspects such as garbage disposal, food production, traffic problems, pollution. We put all these things together and came up with the concept.¡±
This definitely seems pretty futuristic.
