The country eased lockdown restrictions and has now moved from 'Level 4' to 'Level 3'. The new cases there reportedly stand in single figures. NZ Prime Minister Jacina Ardern said, ¡°It¡¯s an ongoing battle. There is no one point in time that this mission ends. We are in the next phase of the battle and we are not done.
She also added, "So as we have said elimination means we may well reach zero but we may well then have small numbers of cases coming up again, that doesn't mean we have failed, it just means that we are in the position to have that zero tolerance approach to have very aggressive management of those cases and keep those numbers low and fading out again."
At a press conference she also added: "You, all of you, have stopped the uncontrolled explosion of COVID-19 in New Zealand and I couldn¡¯t feel prouder of the start that we have made together," reports Forbes.
This good news has led people to search for 'How New Zealand controlled Coronavirus' on Google in India where people have been under lockdown for more than a month.
Not just us but even the Queen of England appreciated PM Ardern's efficient government and the country's health care system which has managed to curb the pandemic. In an Instagram post, PM Ardern shared a photograph where she was speaking to Her Majesty.
We hope our country gets to see this phase of the pandemic soon enough.
