Bette Nash: 86-Year-Old Flight Attendant Becomes Longest Serving, Senior Most In The World
Bette began her career as an air hostess in 1957, which is the same year the first man-made satellite was launched.
Guinness World Records recognised an 86-year-old American woman as the longest-serving and oldest flight attendant in the world this week.
Bette Nash has been a flight attendant with American Airlines for the longest time. She has been working with the air carrier for 65 years, which qualifies as a Guinness World Record, the record-keeping organisation said.
Nash is a native of Boston, Massachusetts and she started her career as an air hostess way back in 1957¡ªthe same year as the launch of the first man-made satellite.

She is a favourite among frequent flyers
Nash has been with the airlines for so long that she has now been recognised by frequent flyers. "I fly hundreds of thousands of miles a year, but these are always my best flights when Bette is on the plane," a passenger said.
She was free to choose any air route of her liking but for most of her career, she has been loyal to the New York-Boston-Washington D.C. shuttle, according to ABC. She chose the route and continues to prefer it because this way, she gets to be home every night with her son, who is said to have disabilities and, to this day, is cared for by his octogenarian mother.

Her advice to new flight attendants
When asked what advice she would give new entrants in the flight attendant career, Nash had said, "To bring the human factor into it is the most important. Instead of technology, it's humanology."
She also said, "As long as I have my health and I'm able, why not work. It's still fun. Plus, I've at least made my Diamond Jubilee, just like Queen Elizabeth."
While working 65 years as a stewardess is an outstanding example of amazing determination, Bette Nash, has only been around for two years longer than a man's career alone.
