'Cancer that is India continues to metastasize': Outrage over New Zealand census as Indians become 3rd largest ethnicity
New census data from New Zealand reveals that European New Zealanders now account for less than 56% of the population, sparking concerns that they could become a minority by 2028. Meanwhile, Indians have emerged as the third-largest ethnic group, reflecting significant demographic shifts.
Newly released census data from New Zealand reveals that in 2023, European New Zealanders accounted for less than 56% of the population, sparking concerns that they could become a minority by the next census in 2028. Stats NZ also reports that Indians have now emerged as the third-largest ethnic group. This shift has triggered alarm among some, with fears that European New Zealanders may soon make up less than half of the country¡¯s population if current trends continue.

According to Stats NZ's data explorer tool, launched alongside the 2023 Census results, 2,790,354 people in New Zealand identified as "European only," making up 55.9% of the total population of 4,993,923.

Political commentator William McGimpsey weighed in on these trends on X, predicting that White New Zealanders could soon make up less than half the population.
GREAT REPLACEMENT UPDATE:

New Zealand Europeans dropped to 55.9% of the population at the 2023 Census according to Stats NZ¡¯s data explorer tool, which was released today.
New Zealand¡¯s ethnic composition in 2023 was as follows:
European 55.9%
Maori 7.3%
Maori/Euro hybrid 8.2%¡ pic.twitter.com/U7ScV1TwJt
He noted, ¡°Since 1996, New Zealand Europeans have fallen from 82.3% of the population, to just over half now. If the current rates of immigration continue, it is likely NZ Europeans will be an absolute minority of the population at the next census.¡±
How people responded
In the comments, reactions were mixed, with some expressing concern over the demographic shift while others questioned its significance:
One wrote, ¡°I was away from NZ for 20 years and quite surprised by the changes, including seeing way fewer white faces.¡±
I was away from NZ for 20 years and quite surprised by the changes, including seeing way fewer white faces. Like it or not if this continues the NZ we knew, and people potentially wanted to pay money to come experience will be gone forever. Good old NZ not there to come home to.

Ok. But why does this really matter? As long as immigrants have output to the economy, does it really matter if they're white, black or pokemon?

However, some comments took a darker turn, with one harsh remark stating, ¡°The cancer that is India continues to metastasize¡± and another stating, ¡°If it was within my power, I would deport every fucking Indian and Asian. This was a nice place to live when I was a kid. They have ruined my country.¡±
