But can you imagine a girl selling golgapps? yes, you read that right, Food blogger Harry Uppal was surprised when he saw Poonam selling golgappa's in Chandigarh's Mohali.
We all work for a living and many of us went through many difficulties during our college days for extra pocket money. You must have come across security guards reading books while on duty. Such stories inspire us to do something and extend support whenever we can.
If you are determined to do something different in life, then nothing is impossible. Poonam from Chandigarh proves this. She set up a golgappa stall in the city so she can earn money for her studies.
Living in India, we often come across street vendors selling golgappas. But have you ever seen a girl selling golgappas? Yes, you read that right. Food blogger Harry Uppal was surprised to see Poonam selling golgappas in Mohali in Chandigarh. Poonam runs a chaat stall in Mohali and makes aloo tikkis, papdi, chutneys etc. herself.
Selling golgappas to support her education
YouTuber and food blogger, Harry Uppal, recently visited this chaat stall and talked to the Poonam about her shop, what makes her food unique, and why she chose this line of business.
Talking to Harry Uppal, she said, "I have not learned anything, what I am doing, I am doing it myself."
During the conversation, Poonam revealed that she had a job. Her friend got her a job in a dental clinic but she left it because she wasn't left with any time to study. But she decided to change that.
Her family was not happy
Hardly anyone thinks of selling chaat, golgappa etc. We all think about working in an office. Even her family initially was against her decision. And while she had never thought she'd do something like this, in the end, she felt there's no shame in earning money this way.

In April 2022, a video of a boy selling golgappas and chaat wearing a suit also went viral. A 22-year-old hotel management graduate man and his brother wear suits and set up a chat-golgappa stall.
¡°Ye bas hotel management ka sign hai (this is just a sign that I have done hotel management). I have a degree in hotel management and we want people to know it and people do know our story,¡± the 22-year-old said.
He even showed everyone how he uses pure desi ghee to make all his dishes. He said that he makes fresh batter for all his food every day and people like it so much that it gets over by the end of the day.
The boy also mentioned how he and his brother wake up at 6 in the morning and sleep by 12 am after setting up and closing their shop.
In future, the man said that once his shop earns more than needed, then he'd open a small shop named 'I love Punjab.' He also plans to expand his chaat business.
