After China, the most number of confirmed cases and deaths because of coronavirus have been reported from Italy and Iran. Currently, the total number of coronavirus cases in Iran exceed 10,000 and the number of deaths because of the pandemic is over 400.
Now, The Washington Post has reported unusual activity at a cemetery in Iran near where the infections emerged.
At the Behesht-e Masoumeh complex in Qom, about 80 miles south of Tehran, the excavation of a new section of the graveyard reportedly began as early as February 21, satellite images reveal. This excavation expanded rapidly as the virus spread.
By the end of February, two large trenches¡ªtheir lengths totaling 100 yards¡ªwere visible from space. The graves have reportedly been dug to accommodate the increasing number of coronavirus victims in Qom.
But we still didn't have a full picture of the number of deaths caused by the virus in the city. Another video surfaced when on March 3 @bbcpersian shared this video allegedly filmed in cemetery. pic.twitter.com/To5ItTW0m7

Iran nearly has a population of 80 million and, along with Italy, it's experiencing a particularly deadly surge of coronavirus infections, including among its top leadership.
Government has not released an official death toll number for Qom which has a population of about 1.2 million people. But the increasing number of graves visible from space suggest that the number could be high.
Misinformation and rumours are not helping in controlling the panic either. 44 people were reported dead because of alcohol poisoning. People overdosed on bootleg alcohol believing the rumours that it proves effective against coronavirus.
In times like these it is important to not give into rumours or be the propagators of it. Follow WHO guidelines and trusted sources only for information regarding coronavirus.
