House Collapses In Kerala's Kasaragod As Cyclone Tauktae Intensifies
As severe sea incursion disrupted normal life in the coastal areas, a double-storey building collapsed in Kerala's Kasaragod due to high tides at sea.
Kerala is already feeling the effects of cyclone Tauktae as heavy winds and rains battered the southern state leading to destruction of many houses and other public properties.

The scary incident was caught on camera, showing the white building collapsing into the sea, leaving little behind.
Kerala on Saturday sounded red alerts to five northern districts ¡ª Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod ¡ª given the likelihood of extremely heavy rainfall (in excess of 20 cm in a 24-hour period).
Starting Friday night, many trees were uprooted and power supply disrupted for long hours on account of the gusty winds and heavy rain in Kerala. High tides and rough sea have led to sea water gushing into nearby areas causing damage to properties in districts like Thrissur, Malappuram, and Kannur.

With the influence of the deep depression over the Arabian Sea expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm, four other states - Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Maharashtra - are on also on high alert as Cyclone Taukate intensifies. The cyclone is expected to make a landfall between May 17 and 18.
In a bulletin released at 1:45 PM, the IMD said, "It (Tauktae) is very likely to intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm during the next six hours and into a very severe cyclonic storm during the subsequent 12 hours. It is very likely to move north-northwestwards and cross the Gujarat coast between Porbandar and Naliya around 18th May afternoon/evening."

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Response Force has increased from 53 to 100 the number of teams earmarked to undertake relief and rescue measures in the wake of impending Cyclone Tauktae, Mint reported.
