Dad Makes An App That Won't Allow His Son To Use His Phone Until He Replies To His Texts!

I remember I got my first cell phone when I entered college. But today, kids have cell phones at a much younger age; kids half my age seem to be carrying better phones than I can afford even now.
Often, parents provide phones to children for their safety, so that they can reach out to them anytime they want. But what do they do when their kids don't respond to their texts and calls. It's more worrying than annoying.
Well, to all the parents who¡¯ve been looking for an answer, Nick Herbert might be their hero.
Nick, who hails from the United Kingdom, was troubled by his son Ben who wouldn¡¯t text him back. He took matters into his own hands and came up with an app called RespondASAP (a name that says it all) that will lock a child¡¯s phone until they reply to their parents' text.

The app¡¯s website states the reason he decided to create an app. Herbert wrote:
However, what I thought was a solution turned into a different problem. Because the phone was ¡®smart,¡¯ he could play games and watch videos on it. So invariably he keeps his phone on silent so I wouldn¡¯t know.
As such, when I try and contact him, he rarely answers, either because he doesn¡¯t hear the phone or because (and I¡¯ve finally had to admit this to myself) he may be embarrassed to speak to his dad in front of his friends.
There are messaging apps that tell you when a message is delivered and seen, but the point is the message can be ignored or not seen because he didn¡¯t hear it. So ReplyASAP is my solution to this problem.
What does the app do?
It allows the parent to send or schedule messages that a child can get with a loud notification, even if the phone is on silent. The sound won¡¯t stop until the recipient acknowledges it and lets the sender know about the recipient's location.

Nick added that ¡°During the development process, I spoke to Ben and showed him the designs and thinking behind the app and he likes the idea because he will know that if he gets one of these messages then he will always hear it and will know it¡¯s important.¡±
¡°He will also have the ability to send me these messages, so there is a mutual understanding that using ReplyASAP is only for important things and not because he needs new batteries for his Xbox controller.¡±
The app is currently only on Android phones, but is ¡°coming soon¡± for iOS devices. RespondASAP starts at about $1.25 to connect to one other person.
