Edgardo Greco, Italian Mafia Boss Was Convicted Of Dangerous Crimes Back In 1991 And Has Been On The Run Since
Greco is associated with the Calabrian crime syndicate "Ndrangheta." The mafia boss was convicted back in 1991 in absentia for the brutal murders of brothers Stefano and Giuseppe Bartolomeo. It has been alleged that Greco killed the brothers with iron bars before dissolving their entire bodies in acid, as per CCN.
Greco evaded Italian law for years after being convicted of the crime. Nicola Gratteri, the anti-mafia prosecutor heading the investigation, described the convict as a "dangerous fugitive." Besides the brothers he killed, the mafia killer is also known for gutting prison officials, which earned him the name "prison killer."
Gratteri found his initial inklings of Greco in an article by the French newspaper Le Progres, which the restaurant the mafia boss worked at posted on its official Facebook page. The police officials in Calabria also confirmed that the fugitive frequently posted on social media under his alias.
