Elon Musk shares 'simple algorithm' for 'fewer dumb mistakes' at Tesla and SpaceX: Will it be applied to DOGE?
Elon Musk has shared a five-step algorithm to boost productivity, which he applies to his companies like Tesla and SpaceX. Now, as head of the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), many are wondering if Musk will use this framework to reduce wasteful spending in the U.S. government.

As the world¡¯s richest person and at the helm of two industry giants¡ªSpaceX and Tesla¡ªhis success speaks volumes. Recently, Musk shared a straightforward five-point work algorithm that he swears by. Now, with his recent role as the head of DOGE under Donald Trump's administration, many are wondering if his work ethic will extend to his latest venture.
Elon Musk has outlined a simple five-step algorithm he uses to boost productivity and minimise errors across his companies, including Tesla and SpaceX.
The five steps are:
1. Make Requirements Less Dumb
2. Delete the Part or Process Step
3. Optimize
4. Accelerate
5. Automate.
Designed to cut inefficiencies, this method emphasises getting the basics right before scaling up.

What is DOGE and how will it work?
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is a recently established agency under the Trump administration, designed to streamline the U.S. government by cutting wasteful spending and excessive regulations.
At an election rally, Musk had stated that DOGE could potentially reduce the federal budget by up to $2 trillion.
Musk is leading the department alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, the founder of the pharmaceutical company Roivant Sciences.
With a focus on reducing government excess, Musk's 5-step algorithm could also be applied to DOGE.
In a recent Washington Post article, Musk and Ramaswamy had outlined their plans for the department.

They explained that a team of "small-government crusaders" would work within federal agencies to review and eliminate unnecessary regulations.
