29-year Pradeep Singh from Sonepat in Haryana has topped the 2019 Civil Services exam. Pradeep is an IRS officer whose father is a farmer.
Singh is a probationer at the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) in Faridabad. ¡°It is a dream come true. I always wanted to be an IAS officer and would like to work for the deprived sections of society,¡± PTI quoted him as saying.
Talking to K9 Media he said that he was out when his friends called him to tell him the results were out. When he checked his results, he was really happy as he got the first rank.
When asked how he managed work with studies he said, he made time by trying to finish his work early and gave most of the time to studies on the weekends.
Talking to DD News, Pradeep's father said he has been a farmer and also a sarpanch and always wanted to give good education to his children so they could hold high rank posts.

According to reports Pradeep¡¯s emphasis would be on improving education and farm sectors. ¡°I have opted for my home state Haryana. I am happy I will now get the chance to work for my state,¡± Pradeep reportedly said. This was his fourth attempt, in the third he got sixth rank.
At one point Pradeep thought of discontinuing his studies but his father persuaded him. ¡°It is very difficult to study while working because UPSC demands consistency and focus. At one time I thought I was dragging it. But my father motivated me to keep studying. My family totally supported me. I¡¯d like to give credit for my success to two of my friends who studied with me for the exams.¡±

Pradeep¡¯s father is a farmer and mother a homemaker. His elder brother is into insurance and his younger sister is studying.
Pratibha Verma is the topper among women candidates, she hails from Uttar Pradesh. A total of 829 candidates have been selected to various Civil Services like IAS, IPS, IRS through the 2019 edition of the exam.
We congratulate Pradeep and all the other candidates who got selected and hope they work towards the betterment of the country.
