This is, unfortunately, not the first time something like this has happened. In the month of May, two people were arrested in Ahmedabad for stealing the belongings of a woman who had died due to COVID-19. They had taken her earrings, gold chain and mobile phone after she passed away.
Reports also suggested that the two young men, Ashok Patel and Amit Sharma had stolen belongings off of dead bodies before as well. They reportedly used to wear PPE kits and enter the hospital to carry out the burglaries.
