Viral video: Heavy snowfall strands 2000 vehicles in Manali, tourists warned to stay away
Heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh's Manali and Solang Valley has stranded over 1,800 vehicles. Social media user Chlucky Tyagi warned visitors to avoid the area as roads are worsening. Himachal Police rescued many vehicles, but 200 remain trapped.
As heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh's Manali and Solang Valley regions strands over 2000 automobiles on the road, a social media user stuck in the same traffic warns other visitors not to visit the mountains.
On Instagram, a user named Chlucky Tyagi posted a video showing motionless traffic on the Solang Valley-Atal Tunnel road and warned anybody planning to visit Manali or Solang Valley, stating, "AVOID TO COME SOLANG VALLEY DUE TO HEAVY SNOWFALL(sic)"

In a video posted on Saturday, December 28, he stated that additional snowfall is expected in the next 3-4 days, indicating that the road's condition will only worsen. The footage, shot in the dark, shows a long queue of cars stalled on a snow-covered road. Tyagi explained that he, too, has been delayed on the road since 10 a.m. and is unsure when or how they will be able to get off.
The user also stated that an SDM's (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) vehicle was stalled in traffic alongside them.

Speaking to ANI, Manali DSP KD Sharma said a rescue effort was begun after over 2,000 vehicles became stopped between Solang Valley and Atal Tunnel owing to inclement weather. Sharma stated that roughly 1800 vehicles had been safely removed, with approximately 200 still trapped.

The state's meteorological department predicts mild to moderate snowfall in the state's mid- and high hills on December 27-29. It also predicted that light rain would fall in the state's plains and low hills over the period. It said the weather will be dry over the state on December 30 and 31, with light snowfall and rain continuing in January.
