Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag and addressed the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort in New Delhi.
32 Olympic winners, 240 Olympians and many Covid warriors were honoured during the 75th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort on Sunday. The theme for this year's Independence Day is ¡®Nation First, Always First¡¯.
While the Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour across the country, the celebrations reverberated across the world as people marked the occasion by hoisting the Tricolour and organising cultural programmes.
Many historical landmarks across the globe were lit in Tricolour to mark the occasion.

1. UAE
The tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa lit up in the tricolour ¡ª saffron, white and green ¡ª to celebrate India¡¯s Independence Day on Sunday evening.

The tricolour was hoisted high and proud on India's 75th Independence Day by Ambassador Pavan Kapoor at the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi.
On the other hand, The Abu Dhabi Global Market also lit up in the colors of sacrifice, peace and growth.
2. USA
The iconic Times Square, reverberating with the chants of ¡®Vande Mataram¡¯ and ¡®Bharat Mata ki Jai¡¯, was on Sunday drenched in the hues of saffron, white and green as the biggest Indian tricolour was unfurled at the popular New York City destination to mark the 75th anniversary of India¡¯s Independence Day.

In Rhode Island, the State Capitol building in Providence, lit up in the Indian Tricolour to mark India¡¯s Independence Day.
The celebrations to mark the occasion also took place at Philadelphia¡¯s iconic City Hall.
3. Denmark
The iconic Industriens Hus building in Denmark's capital, Copenhagen, was lit in the Indian tricolour the mark 75th Independence Day of India.

An Indian Navy frontline frigate docked at Portsmouth harbour on England's south coast as part of a goodwill visit was at the heart of Sunday's Independence Day celebrations in the UK.

INS Tabar, which arrived at Portsmouth on Thursday to undertake the annual bilateral exercise Konkan between the Indian Navy and Britain's Royal Navy, hosted a special flag hoisting ceremony with its approximately 300 crew on board under the command of Captain Mahesh Mangipudi.
