Challa Srinivas Sastry is retracing Lord Rama's trip from Ayodhya to Rameswaram during his 'Vanavas' (exile). He stated that he intended to travel in reverse order, visiting all of the Shiva Lingas created by the Lord along the way, and he began his trek on July 20.
Sastry has already visited Puri in Odisha, Trimbak in Maharashtra, and Dwaraka in Gujarat.
Why is he walking 8,000 km?
He stated that he would walk over 8,000 kilometres, carrying on his head the footwear that he would deliver to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath once he arrived in the holy city.
Sastry stated that he has been following the map "discovered" by Dr Ramavatar, a retired Income Tax Department official who researched the passage that Lord Ram walked during Vanavas for 15 years.
"In Ayodhya, my father participated in Karseva." He was a devout follower of Lord Hanuman. His ambition was to see the Ram temple in Ayodhya erected. "Since he is no longer with us, I decided to fulfil his wish," Sastry told PTI.
Where is he now?
He is currently in Chitrakoot, UP, with five others, some 272 kilometres from Ayodhya, according to Sastry. He hopes to get to his goal in roughly ten days. Sastry, who travels 30 to 50 kilometres every day, stated that the object he is carrying is worth roughly Rs 65 lakh, some of which was ddonated by others.
He is the founder of the Ayodhya Bhagyanagar Sitarama Foundation in the city and aspires to stay permanently in Ayodhya, where he aims to build a house.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate a huge Ram Temple in the Lord's birthplace on January 22.

"I am currently carrying gold-plated 'padukalu' (footwear) made with 'panch dhatu' (five metals) to be given to Lord Shri Ram," he went on to say.
