'I'm involved in every layer of hiring': Deepinder Goyal reveals he's Zomato's 'HR guy,' and is always recruiting
Zomato CEO has revealed in a recent interview that he is the "HR guy" of his company, overseeing recruitment for all positions, from top executives to entry-level roles. He emphasises his hands-on involvement in hiring, mentorship, and coaching within the company.
Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal frequently finds himself in the spotlight. Following a recent appearance with his wife, Grecia Munoz, where they both took on the roles of Zomato delivery agents, he has now garnered attention by revealing that he personally oversees the hiring process at all levels within the company¡ªranging from top executives to entry-level roles.
Deepinder Goyal, the 41-year-old co-founder and CEO of Zomato, has recently been making headlines for his hands-on approach to hiring.
In an interview with Moneycontrol, Goyal described himself as the ¡°HR guy¡± of his company, highlighting his deep involvement in the recruitment process at all levels: ¡°I¡¯m involved in every layer of hiring¡ªfrom top executives to entry-level positions. I¡¯m constantly recruiting, mentoring, and coaching.¡±
Goyal also added that it is this HR work that takes up most of his time.
Currently, Zomato is primarily focused on filling entry-level roles, revealed Goyal: ¡°We¡¯re primarily hiring for frontline positions, so my recruitment efforts are concentrated there.¡±
He also shared that that, despite the bustling hiring activity at the entry level, Zomato is not looking to expand its senior or mid-level positions at this time and that is because they already have a ¡°huge talent pipeline from within the organisation now.¡±

Recently, Goyal and his wife, Grecia Munoz, took on the role of delivery agents to better understand the inner workings of Zomato.
Sharing their experience on Instagram, he posted, ¡°A few days ago, we hit the streets to deliver orders together.¡±
The post features a series of snapshots from their day as delivery partners, showing the couple riding together, checking their mobile phones for delivery routes, and engaging with customers throughout their journey.
