Indigo Flight Couldn't Take-Off At Srinagar Airport As It Got Stuck In Snow
A major tragedy was averted when an Airbus 321 of IndiGo airlines with 231 passengers on board got stuck in snow accumulated adjacent to the taxi-way at Srinagar airport on Wednesday.

IndiGo flight 6E 2559 flight was held back after it came in close contact with snow on the taxi-way. The brand new A321neo plane VT-IUZ had joined the airline's fleet last month, and was scheduled to take off from Srinagar to Delhi when the incident took place.
The aircraft is being examined for possible damage as the engine cowling (cover) was stuck in snow.
In a statement, the airline said it has held the aircraft at the Srinagar airport for further inspections, and an alternative flight was arranged to Delhi to accommodate all the affected passengers.

¡°IndiGo flight 6E 2559 operating from Srinagar to New Delhi today was held back at Srinagar. While taxiing out, the aircraft came in close contact with the snow which was accumulated adjacent to the taxi-way,¡± the statement read.
The 231 passengers on board were transferred to a replacement aircraft. The flight took off from Srinagar at 15:00. It arrived at Delhi at 16:04 local time, three hours and four minutes behind schedule.
The inclement weather has affected life in Kashmir with heavy snowfall wreaking havoc across the valley. Flight operations had been suspended for four days before they resumed last week on January 7.
However, the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the only road link between Kashmir and the rest of the country, remained closed on Thursday due to accumulation of snow, landslides, and shooting stones at several places on
the 270-km long highway.
Several thousand vehicles have been stranded on the highway for the past few days.
As per the latest meteorological forecast, there was no prediction of ¡°any major snowfall in Kashmir and weather will remain mainly dry till January 14.¡±
