ISRO Launches Week-Long Free Online Certification Course. All Details Here
ISRO through its centre the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) has launched an online certification course that is just one week. It's a course on Satellite Photogrammetry and its Applications.
In a first of firsts, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), through its centre the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), is inviting applications for a free online course on Satellite Photogrammetry and its applications.
What is IIRS?
According to the government website, Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) under Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space, Government of India ¡®is a premier training and educational institute set up for developing trained professionals in the field of Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics and GNSS Technology and its applications in natural resources monitoring, environmental and disaster management¡¯.
Satellite Photogrammetry
The Satellite Photogrammetry course will focus on ¡®concepts and techniques to process and analyse stereo data from space-borne sensors. A few potential users of the technique are administrators, decision-makers, engineers, city-planners, natural resource scientists¡¯.
Dates: June 29, 2020 ¨C July 3, 2020.
The Course
The course intends to introduce participants to Photogrammetric Concepts, Basics of GPS, Satellite Photogrammetry, DEM and its derivatives and Orthoimage generation.

All participants will reportedly have access to the required course study material like video lectures, lecture slips, open-source software and handouts of demonstrations, etc. through an IIRS-shared link. Video lectures will also be uploaded on the YouTube channel.

3, 2020.
Other Relevant Details
- There is no course fee for attending this programme.
- The course is for professionals from state or central governments, NGOs, students and researchers engaged in disaster management related activities.
- The course requires the participants to be duly sponsored by their university or institution.
- Certification will be awarded to: working professionals with 70% attendance and upon submission of assignments; students with 70% attendance and post online examination.
