India's Version Of Twitter Called 'Koo' Triggers Fresh Wave Of Hilarious Memes
The homegrown website Koo, which is a desi version of microblogging site Twitter, has become the new tool of conversation as several ministries and union ministers have made their accounts on the Koo App.
If you spend a fair enough time on social media, you must surely be aware of the all the debate on home-grown micro-blogging app Koo. If not, here's a quick recap on what this app is all about.
Koo, an Indian microblogging platform that apparently offers a Twitter-like experience in Indian languages. The app is said to have come into the limelight last year along with other India-made apps like Zoho and Chingari¡ªthe local version of TikTok¡ªwhen the government was on a Chinese app banning spree.
Koo also got shout out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Mann Ki Baat address in the context of Atmanirbhar App Innovation Challenge.
But just as the talks about the app caught fire, desi Twitter users couldn't help but churn out some hilarious memes.

The microblogging site was co-founded by entrepreneurs Aprameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidwatka. Radhakrishna had founded online cab booking service TaxiForSure. "Koo is an India registered company with Indian founders. Raised earlier capital 2.5 years ago. Latest funds for Bombinate Technologies is led by a truly Indian investor 3one4 capital. Shunwei (single digit shareholder) which had invested in our Vokal journey will be exiting fully," Aprameya R tweeted.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Law & IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Members of Parliament Tejasvi Surya and Shobha Karandlaje, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, Isha Foundation¡¯s Jaggi Vasudev, former cricketers Javagal Srinath and Anil Kumble are among the politicians, ministers and celebrities to have joined the app.

Koo App is available in four Indian languages--Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. While, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bangla, Oriya, Malayalam, and Assamese will be added soon. It enables users to write opinions on anything using text, audio, or video. A user either conveys thoughts in 400 characters or a one-minute video. Koo is available for download on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Users can download the Koo app on their iPhone and Android devices.

Either way, the home grown app 'Koo' has crossed gross downloads of three million, revealed its founder Mayank Bidawatka. In an interview to News18, Bidawatka said that downloads for the app have grown four-fold in the past six months, adding that he naturally expects the growth pace of his app to continue at a steeper, more exponential pace in the next few months.

According to Bidawatka, the downloads for the app have increased ever since Prime Minister Modi announced that Koo was one of the winners of the MyGov Aatmanirbhar App Challenge.
