A man sued Emirates Airlines for false advertising
Business-class flights are an expensive privilege that not everyone can afford. There is a specific sort of air travel for business travellers. People who purchase such tickets anticipate excellent service and comfort with no issues or concerns.
However, a guy from Australia recently chose to sue a prominent airline, saying that his USD $2,155 (Rs 1.7 lakh) business class seat was 'disgusting' and 'grubby'.
Brodie Chapman, the proprietor of a wholesale energy company, travels with the aforementioned airline up to 20 times each year. He was nevertheless enraged by his recent flight experience with the airlines.
The 20-year-old said the flight experience was a "misrepresentation of the brand," alleging he was promised "luxury" but did not receive it while flying from Oslo to Dubai on March 28. Chapman complained that his seats were filthy and that socks were stuck down the side of his chair, which didn't recline correctly.
¡°They advertise this fancy product ¨C the 777 or the A380 ¨C and this plane I got on was absolutely disgusting. The seats were grubby, there were socks stuck down the side of my chair, it didn¡¯t recline properly, one of the screens didn¡¯t work, there were stains on the seat," Chapman told Daily Mail.
The airline compensated him with 20k air miles
The man claimed he was transferred to a customer service team that granted him 20,000 Skyward miles after filing a complaint with the airlines.
According to reports, the Perth native is now suing the airlines in a UK court for "false advertising."
Following the lawsuit, Emirates issued a statement to news.com.au, saying, "Emirates stands by its high-quality products and services, and we are currently delivering a multibillion-dollar retrofit programme on our Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft, as part of our commitment to ensure that customers 'Fly Better' for years to come."
The airline responded, 'We also do indicate on our website that products and services may differ on real flights based on routes and aircraft configuration, and that operational constraints may cause last-minute changes to the aircraft utilised on planned flights.'
"Our Customer Affairs and Service Audit team takes all feedback seriously and has been diligently handling this case. The team has since been in touch with the customer; however, as this case is now pending litigation, we will not be offering any additional comment," the statement added.
