Pakistan¡¯s First Woman Commentator Marina Iqbal Slams Troll Over Comment On ¡®High Heels¡¯

In cricket-obsessed nations like India and Pakistan, female players, despite excelling on the field, have to deal with a lot of stereotypes. They are often picked on and trolled for seemingly inconsequential things, or ones that really should not be anyone's business.

Marina Iqbal of the Pakistan women¡¯s cricket team has taken social media by storm, after she gave a fitting reply to man who tried to pull her down.

The 33-year-old is the first woman cricketer and a commentator, and she is currently on duty in the ongoing National T20 Cup in Multan and Rawalpindi.

She was trolled by one user by the name of Qadir Khawaja, who is seemingly an anchor for NEO News. He questioned her for wearing high heels on the pitch.

But she came forward with a fitting reply. On her Twitter handle, she shared photos from various angles that showed her wearing flats while on the main pitch, and heels during the pre-match and post-match sessions.

Marina, 33, is a former cricketer who played for Pakistani international cricket team. She made her debut in 2009 against Ireland in Dublin. She grabbed the spotlight in 2015 when she scored her first fifty in an ODI on a difficult wicket at Sharjah.

She has represented Pakistan for nearly six years and was part of 34 ODIs and 42 T20Is. Marina shifted to the commentary world and made her debut during the Pakistan-Australia women¡¯s cricket series held in Malaysia.

A similar incident back in 2017, Indian women's cricket team skipper Mithali Raj, came up with a witty response when asked who her favourite male cricketer was between India and Pakistan. Mithali Raj said that it was unfair to be compared to their male counterparts. ¡°Do you ask the same question to a male cricketer? Do you ask them who their favourite female cricketer is?¡± she said to the scribe in question.

The ongoing Pakistan National T20 Cup commenced on September 30 and it will run till October 18 across two venues, namely Multan and Rawalpindi. The upcoming BAL vs NOR live streaming affair is the fifth match for both teams in the tournament.
