Mukesh Ambani, backing 'BharatGPT', tells GenZ to use ChatGPT with 'khud ki buddhi'
Mukesh Ambani urges India's youth to use AI tools like ChatGPT wisely but stresses the importance of critical thinking and self-reliance for true progress. Meanwhile, Reliance is heavily investing in AI, including a new language model, BharatGPT, aimed at advancing India's capabilities in multiple sectors.
Artificial Intelligence has been dominating conversations for a while, and its rapid advancements are hard to ignore. Just recently, a new low-cost chatbot called DeepSeek emerged, challenging the likes of ChatGPT. Now, India's wealthiest individual, Mukesh Ambani, has added his voice to the AI debate. He urged India's youth to not overly depend on ChatGPT, emphasising that true progress comes from "khud ki buddhi," (one's own intelligence), not just AI.
Speaking about artificial intelligence at the 12th Convocation of PDEU (Pandit Deendayal Energy University), Mukesh Ambani shared valuable advice for young students: "Talking of artificial intelligence I have a piece of advice to our young students. You must be good at using AI as a tool of learning, but do not give up your own critical thinking."

He further emphasised, "ChatGPT ka zarurat se istemal karo, lekin yaad rakho, artificial buddhi se nahi, khud ki buddhi se hum aage badhenge aur aage badh sakte hai." (Use ChatGPT as needed, but remember, it is not with artificial intelligence, but with your own intelligence that we will move forward and can achieve progress.)
Mukesh Ambani's investments in AI
Reliance is reportedly making significant investments in AI technologies, including acquiring advanced semiconductors from NVIDIA, a leader in the field.
Mukesh Ambani is also planning to build the world's largest data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat, which is expected to boost India's AI capabilities.
Additionally, a consortium supported by Reliance Industries and top engineering institutions in India is working on launching a ChatGPT-like service.
The project, called BharatGPT, which includes partnerships with IITs and Reliance Jio, recently showcased its AI language model, "Hanooman," during a tech conference in Mumbai.
If successful, Hanooman could mark a significant milestone for India in the race to develop AI technologies, offering services in 11 local languages across sectors like healthcare, governance, finance, and education.
