Mumbai-Pune Hyperloop Project Gets Infra Status, Travel Time To Reduce To Just 23 Minutes
The Mumbai-Pune Hyperloop project is an ambitious ultra modern super fast transport project which will link Mumbai and Pune which are separated almost by a distance of 200kms. The train is supposedly going to run at the speed of 496 km per hour thus taking only 23 minutes to cover the distance. Reportedly the entire project has a budget of Rs 70000 crore and will take seven years to complete.
Currently if you travel to Pune from Mumbai and vice-versa it takes approximately three hours by train and over three and a half hours by road. But imagine covering the same distance in just 23 minutes! If things work out as planned, you won't have to imagine it. It'll be a reality.
The Mumbai-Pune Hyperloop project, once operational, could most likely make the commute between the two cities a matter of just a few minutes.
According to a PTI report, Maharashtra state government has accorded the Mumbai-Pune ultra-fast Hyperloop transport project the infrastructure status that'll bring down the travel considerably.
Reportedly, the chief minister¡¯s office also released a statement which said that the state Cabinet has also approved the formation of a consortium of Hyperloop Technologies and DP World FZE as proponents of the original project.

According to the PTI report, the Hyperloop train will be running from BKC in Mumbai to Wakad in Pune, thus covering a distance of about 117.5 km. Further, the train is supposedly going to run at the speed of 496 km per hour thus taking only 23 minutes to cover the distance.
Reportedly, the entire project has a budget of Rs 70,000 crore. This ambitious project will take seven years to complete. According to the report, initially in the first phase the Hyperloop train will be run on a pilot basis for a distance of 11.8 km in the Pune metropolitan region at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore.

The Hyperloop project will not only reduce commute time between the two cities, it will also ease congestion on the expressway.
In case you do not know, Hyperloop is a futuristic mass transit system that will make use of pods in a long stretch of vacuum tube to transport people and goods alike. Since the pods will be travelling in a vacuum, anticipated speeds of the same could reach up to 350-400 kmph. Initiated by tech billionaire Elon Musk, the entire concept is meant to reduce the travel time over long distances drastically.
The planned route from Mumbai to Pune has a considerable support from the local entities including the private players as the need for the system is also compelling, to eliminate the on-road congestion between the two cities. The route will progressively be extended to Chennai. Also, the environmental impact study has been completed for the route, unlike any other listed routes across the world.
